Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Coaching India collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 10 February 2025

Information we collect

We collect four broad categories of information:

  • Account data — your name, email address, phone number (if provided), exam goal, and authentication details.
  • Learning activity — the topics you study, practice attempts, mock test scores, time spent, and progress across the syllabus.
  • AI tutor conversations — the messages you send to and receive from the AI teacher, including questions you ask and explanations you are given.
  • Billing information — your subscription plan, billing cycle, and transaction history. Card and UPI details are handled directly by our payment processor; Coaching India does not store your full card number.

Why we collect it

We use this information to run and improve the tutoring experience: to personalise what the AI teacher explains next, to track your syllabus coverage, to generate mock test results and analytics, to process payments and renewals, and to respond when you contact support.

How the AI tutor processes your conversations

When you chat with the AI teacher, your message and the relevant context (your exam, subject, chapter and recent history) are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. Google processes this data as our sub-processor under its API terms; Coaching India does not permit Google to use your conversations to train its general-purpose models.

Conversation content is stored in your account so you can revisit past chats, and is used in aggregate, de-identified form to understand where the AI teacher gives unclear or incorrect explanations, so the underlying prompts and syllabus material can be improved.

Data retention

We keep account and learning data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after cancellation in case you return or need a transaction record. Chat conversations are retained until you delete them or close your account. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by writing to support@coachingindia.app.

Your rights under the DPDP Act

As a data principal under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request erasure of your data, and withdraw any consent you have given — for example, for marketing communications. You may also nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity. To exercise any of these rights, email support@coachingindia.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Cookies

Coaching India uses a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. See our cookie policy for the full list.

Security

Data in transit between your device and Coaching India is encrypted using TLS. Access to student data inside our systems is restricted using row-level access control, so a record is only readable by its owner and the systems that need it. Administrative access to production data is limited to a small number of engineers on a least-privilege basis and is used only to investigate reported issues.
